As a Senior Environmental Engineer in this role, one would be at the forefront of delivering exceptional engineering solutions and strategic consulting by providing engineering and consulting services for a broad array of environmental projects and clients. Responsibilities may encompass conducting and/or leading environmental site investigations, performing engineering analysis, calculations and recommendations, contributing to the design and development of plans and specifications, overseeing observation and inspection, as well as preparing and reviewing related reports pertaining to the rendered services. The role also involves assisting in the identification, evaluation, and recommendation of risk and remediation strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This includes preparing applicable permit applications, risk assessments, and technical documents, such as proposals, reports, and regulatory agency correspondence.


The successful candidate will apply sound engineering principles and effectively communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to both technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Services performed may encompass Phase I/II environmental site assessments, ecological and natural resource field surveys, tank closure assessments, asbestos abatement, stormwater management, and site planning and permitting.


The location for this position can be based out of any of the following offices: Chicago and Glendale Heights, Illinois - United States.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding and awareness of project-related risks, being familiar with potential challenges and how to mitigate them.
  • Lead safety efforts for the team, ensuring adherence to safety rules and guidelines, and creating a safe work environment through demonstrated safety practices. Encourage pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects, monitoring adherence to quality standards and practices.
  • Undertake a senior-level role in environmental engineering, overseeing complex or unique projects, and supervising the analysis and formation of recommendations in written reports.
  • Assist in establishing and updating current policies/procedures for technical projects in the field of expertise, ensuring proper interpretation and implementation by junior staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to less experienced professional staff.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing strategies and presentations of qualifications to clients on projects.
  • Fulfill the role of an Authorized Project Reviewer.


Requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Have a minimum of 8-11 years of relevant experience.
  • A Master's degree in Environmental Engineering is preferred.
  • Hold Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certification:

  • Preferred status as an Authorized Project Reviewer.
