Our client is seeking a Lead Project Engineer, based in Toronto. The Lead Project Engineer is responsible for directing and coordinating the engineering and design of assigned projects, overseeing technical aspects of contracts. They facilitate timely decision-making on project technical matters, leveraging internal technical expertise as needed. Additionally, they will establish and manage the technical interface among all project stakeholders, including engineers, customers, and subcontractors. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with functional engineering teams to develop estimates, schedules, and change orders. 
• Provide technical and delivery leadership for the project. 
• Ensure engineering interfaces with multiple disciplines, project management, subcontractors, and customers. 
• Oversee subcontractor engineering work on assigned projects. 
• Define critical technical project issues and ensure their timely resolution. 
• Identify technical risks and implement risk mitigation plans. 
• Ensure engineering activities adhere to customer, internal, and regulatory requirements. 
• Support commercial and marketing opportunities for Engineering, including contributing to technical proposals. 
• Keep project and engineering management informed of project progress, performance, and resource utilization. 
• Coordinate Engineering Design Reviews with Chief Consulting Engineers as required. 
• Review engineering performance to ensure quality, adherence to design processes, procedures, and completion of engineering tasks. 
• Review Design Change notices promptly, identify change order candidates, segregate cost collection, and assist the Project Manager with change order management. 
• Perform Responsible Configuration Management reviews for assigned projects. 

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university. 
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil/earthworks projects in project management, design, or operations. 
• Understanding of business operations, customer base, and competitive landscape 
•  Proven track record in delivering projects within budget, timeline, and quality parameters Strong leadership, influencing, communication, and presentation abilities
