Planner (Energy and Mining Industries)


Our client is actively seeking a highly qualified Senior Planner to join their dynamic team. This exciting opportunity is based in either Mississauga or Toronto. As the project Planner, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the project schedule to assist in the management and reporting of project activities in a timely and consistently accurate manner. 


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate directly with engineers, procurement specialists, construction supervision, and management during both the planning stages and execution of projects.
  • Engage with the Client Project Management team as needed, offering expert solutions related to planning and scheduling.
  • Develop resource-loaded baseline schedules and comprehensive schedule basis documents, outlining execution and contracting strategies, along with key assumptions.
  • Maintain and update project schedules, monitoring progress and performance interfaces.
  • Independently analyze and implement workarounds to mitigate any schedule delays.
  • Work closely with project controls counterparts, including cost analysts and estimators, to align schedules with estimates, costs, and earned value progress systems.
  • Evaluate potential changes against project scope and execution plans, providing valuable insights on schedule impacts due to scope changes and trends.
  • Provide mentorship and oversight to junior and intermediate schedulers, particularly in their interactions with construction teams.
  • Assist Business Development with proposal and tender schedules.


Qualifications:

  • Engineering qualification or extended experience in the engineering, EPC, EPCM and/or construction fields.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the field of Planning and Scheduling
  • Minimum 4 years experience in preparation of construction schedules
  • Relevant experience in the field of cost control and monitoring
  • Work experience primarily in the Canadian oil, gas, petrochemicals and mining & infrastructure industries, preferably with Engineering or EPC Consultants
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems
